Iaido (ee-eye-doe) is the art of drawing and cutting with the traditional Japanese sword or katana. We study the Muso Jikiden Eishen Ryu style of iaido under the tutelege of Ken Maneker (7th degree) of Shin Ken Kai Iaido Vancouver. Maneker Sensei is a direct student of both Iwata Norikazu and Omori Masao Sensei. We also study Katayama Hoki Ryu iaido, as taught by Kuze Takashi Sensei, and the Toho kata of the Dai Nihon Iaido Renmei.

Usually people begin iaido when they are mature in another martial art. It is at once meditative and demanding of physical precision and focus.

Rob Ingram holds a godan, and Peter Deer and Mervin Harper hold nidan, in Muso Jikiden Eishen Ryu.

Iaido Sundays 12 to 1 pm at Selkirk St. School
